Sister Sister, You're Not Alone
"Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor. If either of them falls down, one can help the other up" Ecclesiastes 4:9-10.
My little sister is the type of person who will make you pee your pants in laughter. She's outrageous and funny and insanely entertaining. These days I consider her my closest confidant. She knows my secrets, she's watched me ugly cry, and heard me curse like a sailor while trying to find my car keys. There is a three-year age gap between the two of us, and like any siblings, we went through our rough patches. I was annoyed by her, jealous of her, mad at her for taking my clothes without asking, and eventually, incredibly grateful for her.
Grateful that I have someone who sees me and loves me the same. For years I operated under the self-proclaimed truth that I didn't need anyone else. I was an island. But my silly sister was the ocean, waves lapping at my shores, urging me to jump in. Daily reminding me how much I love to swim. I'm her forever shoulder to cry on and she's sunshine on my dark days. She's a constant testament to the fact that our God is one of intention. That the individuals in our lives are not there by accident. They have been perfectly placed by a father who knows our needs and knows even more how much we need one another.
Lord, thank you for the gift of my sister. Thank you for the beautiful people you have placed in my life, help me to see them and love them with care and intention, as you do.
