God Wants You to SLOW DOWN

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God” Philippians 4:6.

Have you ever almost pooped your pants? Not in a joking way, but as in... you literally cannot hold it in and you're running for the bathroom? It's actually happened to me three or four times in the last few weeks. I think when you get to the point where you have the runs several times a week, it might be a physical sign of what's going on mentally and emotionally: stress, anxiety, and general lack of self-care.

When I was still producing TV my anxiety would physically manifest itself in a hundred different ways. For the longest time I just thought I was a hypochondriac, but the longer I had to heal from that job the healthier I became physically.

I think God designed the body to tell us when to SLOW DOWN. In fact, He commands us to stop stressing. It’s the most frequent command in the bible with 365 mentions by Jesus…that’s one for every day of the year. Physical indicators of anxiety are like a built-in alter system to stop whatever you’re doing.

Take you reading this entry on today of all days as a reminder from the Lord Almighty himself to give yourself a break, girlfriend. Whatever that looks like for you- playing hooky from class or work, or getting a burger instead of a salad for lunch. Whatever it is… go ahead. I’m giving you permission: let go of what “needs” to happen, and just be still and know that your life is so much more important than the details you are currently stressing over. God designed you for a much bigger purpose than cleaning or finishing a project.

God of the Universe, you love US. We breathe in and know that you are God and you are good. We breathe out and thank you for the life that you have breathed into us. Please give us moments of peace and calm today. May we feel you in the smallest parts of this day you have made.
