Growing Deeper Friendships
“Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom” -Marcel Proust.
I think of all the people who have cultivated, nurtured, and helped my soul blossom. I believe we never truly understand what friendship looks like till we understand the love of Christ.
In John 15:12 Christ says, “Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.”
I see this verse played out in the people around me. They have shown me what it looks like to love deeply, give time, and speak truth. I want to be this type of friend that Christ talks about in John. I want to be a friend that is a charming gardener. I want to be in the business of cultivating deep and meaningful friendships with people.
I want to be a good friend.
Jesus, I am so thankful for friendship. I am thankful that you designed it, that there is a need for it, and that you have shown us the ultimate example of friendship. Thank you for the people you have put in my life and those that will come into existence. Thank you for being good.
