Keep Asking God: Again & Again & Again
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” Philippians 4:6-7.
Have you ever seen people who are trying to get a petition signed? They are relentless! They will ask everyone they come in contact with to sign. They ask again and again, almost to the point of begging. That is what the verse above is saying we should do-- ask God again and again and again. The next part of that verse says that we will receive peace. And I have to ask myself: “Am I petitioning to God about anything in my life?”
I worry that I wont get a job that I'm happy in, but I haven't bothered to seriously ask God about it. I fear that I will be alone and never find a husband, but I cant tell you of a single time I was on my knees crying out to God because of it.
One of my friends told me the other day: “I am begging God for a miracle, even though I’m not sure if God likes begging.” That stuck with me. After checking back in with God & His word, I can now confidently say, "Sure he does! He tells us to come before him with prayer and petition. In the big and the small things! Keep asking God- again and again and again."
God, I am so glad that you ask us to come to you for things, to petition you for them! It keeps us humble. And thank you for sending peace when we do come before you.
