Small Fights & Big Prayers
“... For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ So we may boldly say: ‘The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?’” Hebrews 13-56.
I recently got into a fight with one of my friends. It was a small fight, but without intending to, I knew that I really hurt her.
I snuck onto Facebook at my internship, which I wasn’t really supposed to do, but I hated the thought of leaving an argument unresolved. I got counsel from our mutual friend, and sat, totally avoiding work, stressing out.
To calm down, I switched gears to my worship music playlist. The first song was “At Your Name” by Phil Wickham. The chorus says, “Yahweh, Yahweh! We Love to shout your name, Oh Lord!”
It reminded me of something my dad told me once when I was about 15: “There is nothing too small or too big to talk to God about. He hurts when you hurt, and He wants you to talk to Him about everything. He is the ultimate best friend. The way you talk to me about friends and boys and school is the same way He wants you to talk to Him, as your Heavenly Father.”
So, in my head, I did just that. I shouted to Him, and thanked Him for my friendship with this girl and asked for guidance, forgiveness and grace. Not even two minutes after that, the fight was finally resolved.
God, thank you for being present in every aspect of my life, even the ones that seem so minuscule and unimportant in the big picture. Thank you for being the ultimate Best Friend and Father.
