When Your Husband Cheats: Part 3

"For your Maker is your husband— the LORD Almighty is his name— the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; He is called the God of all the earth. The LORD will call you back as if you were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit— a wife who married young, only to be rejected,” says your God" Isaiah 54: 5-6.

I just knew. The moment my husband said: "I'm not attracted to you anymore," I knew there was someone else emotionally pulling on his heart strings. That tornado I was so worried about had blown in and he was swept up by the excitement and chase of it all. The only person I thought would never fail me was doing just that.

I did what I could to stay afloat: nagging, crying, even stooping to forms of blackmail and bribery. That was when I knew I had lost all control. Who was going to love me now? I spent my nights crying out to God to fix this mess we created. Finally, I realized I just needed to shut up and stop talking. Praying wasn’t doing anything. Instead, I needed to start listening.

As I began to surrender, God revealed more and more of Himself to me. My relationship with Him was slowly bringing life back to what seemed dead. Jesus was becoming my helpmate, the husband I so desperately needed.

Jesus, Thank you for showing yourself so clear to me when all seemed lost. Thank you for becoming the husband I needed and showing me what real covenant is truly about. Continue to remind me that clinging to You is what I need to do.
