The Thirst (for love) is Real

“I thirst for God, the living God. When can I go and stand before him?” Psalm 42:2.

"Guuuuurl I want to fold your clothes."

That was the most recent message I received on an online dating platform. My first reaction was, "Oh, that is a very odd way to start a conversation; however, I am intrigued."

Later that day I found out he sent the same exact message to my roommate. So then I was like, "Daaang homeboy is thirsty!"

And I've got to say, I think the thirst is real in all of us. And if I am being honest, I really am thirsty for companionship, just like this guy who just wants to fold someone's to speak. I'm also thirsty for the job I think I should have by now. And the security of friendship. And the gratification from constant "browsing" of every type of media right at my fingertips.

If we take a step back from what we're currently chasing, we can see that these things only fill us up temporarily. What we're really longing for is a deeper connection to this life. Fulfillment that can only come from our creator. Psalm 42:1 says, "As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God."

Lord, our prayer is to long to stand before you knowing that we have thirsted for you and you alone. We all long to be near you and to know you. Thank you for your connection in our lives.
